The Higham Ferrers Archaeology and Research Society

The Higham Ferrers Archaeology and Research Society was founded in July 2008 after a proposal was submitted to the Higham Ferrers Town Council to instigate a geophysical survey of the Castle Field area of the town which was subsequently approved, receiving the full support of the Town Council and the Inspector of Scheduled Monuments at English Heritage.

We aim to get the geophysical survey underway and continue our research into the Castle site with the help of our members, archaeology professionals and the community in Higham Ferrers. In the meantime we have put together a calendar of events to interest HiFARS members including 'Dig-for-a-Day' (learning the skills of excavation) and the Higham Ferrers Test Pit Project.

We welcome new members of any age and ability just go to JOIN US on this website.
